The City of Bardejov
Poster Exhibition
UNESCO heritage, Slovakia
_______
Bardejov — royal free town, spectacular city walls, magnificent basilica, unique town hall, gothic architecture, majestic castle, famous spa, precious Jewish monuments, deep rare forests, captivating wooden churches, beautiful countryside, world war memorials, UNESCO heritage.
All three of my submitted posters were selected for this exhibition in the City of Bardejov, Slovakia. As usual, I present overall and close-up shots of each poster. In this particular case I tried to experiment with textures, superimposed multilayered compositions of letters and their segments. In every poster there’s one major word and that is BARDEJOV. I used different techniques of light/shadow to accentuate the letterforms and the way they interact with each other, subsequently conveying different messages.
• In the first poster — multiple letterforms, the crown (based on the Bardejov coat of arms) and the combination of golden and blue colors represent royalty in its full glory.
• The second one depicts the letters gradually emerging from the dark surface of Middle Ages, twisted and bent like sheets of paper. These letters form what is the city today along with golden lines and coat of arms that represent the streets of the city.
• The last one is more of a combination or rather a “melting pot” of different cultures, stories and traditions that this city has accumulated through its long history.
